It's fantastic that you want to come and ride in Ainsa. Unfortunately, as of June 1st, 2024, I am no longer a mountain bike guide because I am pursuing my dream of building the Life-Centered Design School, my other business. Below, you'll find my recommendations for riding in Zona Zero Pirineos.

I highly recommend Martin Campoy as a guide. If you need a rental bike, visit Cinca Riders for top-spec e-bikes. If you need help climbing the mountains, call Trail Hunters for shuttles to the best trails.

If you are looking for a place to sleep, consider Bed & Breakfast Dos Arcos in Usana. If you want a local experience in a small village just outside of Ainsa, they make fantastic breakfasts with homemade cakes from Emma, and Yiftach runs his bike repair shop from the bed and breakfast. If you want all the comfort of a modern hotel, stay at Hotel Dos Rios in downtown Aínsa.

Enjoy your stay in Zona Zero!

The mountain biking here is unique, and in one ride, you can enjoy breathtaking views, explore abandoned villages, and discover caves and natural rock pools. Not to mention the actual riding is super fun! The single tracks vary from technical and challenging, to flow, to through forest to out in the open, and not to mention riding through ‘the badlands’, which is like something I have never experienced! We absolutely loved Ainsa and will be back! Our experience here wouldn’t have been the same without Jeroen being our guide, and we are so grateful for his fantastic sharing of his knowledge and passion for riding in Ainsa.

Discover beautiful Zona Zero

We had an amazing week where we rode the best trails with gorgeous views in the Zona Zero area. Jeroen knows the area very well and can adapt the tours to every skill level. It is amazing to see how well he rides his hardtail through this rocky terrain.

As for the riding, the 2 days are without doubt two of the best days riding I’ve ever had, & I’ve had a few!!! At times, I was left speechless, & the memories made will last a lifetime.

Jeroen

Hello my name is Jeroen Spoelstra. I moved to Ainsa the day before New Year’s Eve 2017/2018 with my wife, Marce. In 2022, we are a family of 4 with two little boys. As a Dutch guy, I rode a bike before I could walk properly! I have been riding mountain bikes for the last 25 years. The mountain biking in and around Zona Zero is some of the best I have ever ridden. In my short time here, I discovered many trails & there are many more to explore.

I look forward to showing you all the fantastic trails this part of the Pyrenees has to offer.

Next to being a guide my wife Marcela and I run Unbeaten Studio a design studio that focuses on sustainable and social challenges.

Qualifications

I have a mountain bike guiding certificate from the Federación Aragonesa Ciclismo and a First Aid diploma from the Red Cross in Huesca, Spain. The focus is on providing suitable First Aid to casualties in mountainous terrain.

My university teaching degree helps me when guiding because it gives me experience working in front of large groups and taught me how best to coach people.

I guide you in fluent English or Dutch (Nederlands) and in Spanish

The tour we did was amazing, with a variety of trail from free flowing single tracks to technical downhills whilst providing incredible views the whole time. Jeroen was of wonderful company, looking after our every needs, sharing local stories and insight into the history, culture and nature of the area and insuring we had a full adrenaline ride.
Hopefully next year we can come back.

Zona Zero Associate

We are happy to be associates with the Zona Zero platform. The founders and volunteers of Zona Zero maintain the trails, they open up new trails and launched the Ztrails app, where you can check if there are any incidents on the trails or where there is hunting in autumn and winter. Zona Zero Pirineos makes it possible for us to ride the trails and we support them fully.
